Lincoln Life {7, 8, & 9 months}

Oh hey, y'all!
I'm months behind on Lincoln posts.
So here's a little post with 3 months in one.

Lincoln at 7 months...
At 7 months, Mr. Lincoln, you are sweet & squishy & long & happy.
You are just getting started on solid food.
And you're not the biggest fan. We're taking the food train slow & slower.
This mama is in no rush to grow you up.
You're crawling all over the house.
A common phrase around here is, "Who sees Lincoln??"
Your brothers & sister love that.
You're pulling up on anything on your level & grabbing anything in reach.
You still only have 2 teeth on the bottom.
You're sleeping like a champ. 10-11 hours at night, 3-4 naps a day.
You love to say da-da-da-da, clap your hands (just the cutest), & giggle at the silliest things.
I am still your favorite. By a land slide, baby.
We're just so glad you're ours!!

Lincoln at 8 months...

 Linc! You're 8 months old!
In honor of it being almost the fourth of July, you wore a little red, white & blue for your 8 month photos. You're just so patriotic.
At 8 months, you are in to everything.
You are crawling so fast & are pulling up on everything & cruising along furniture at an alarming rate.
I'm a little afraid of what your future movements will consist of.
You are just the cutest, funniest guy.
You're a hand clapping, high five-ing fool. And we all can't get enough of it.
When you smile, it's so big, you wrinkle up your nose.
You're starting to put things in your mouth a lot. Like legos & dog food & random leaves drug in the house on the bottom of dirty shoes.
Such a glorious stage in life.
You're starting to enjoy solid food a little more.
But you don't really have a favorite, unless it's something off my plate or the floor.
You love, love bath time. You crack me up with your crazy kicking legs & giant splashes & loud squeals you make in there. Like you splash so much, I get really wet. Such a cutie.
Your favorite word is still da-da-da. However, you broke out in some ma-ma-ma the other day.
It was an exciting moment. I've tried no less than 100 times since to get you to repeat it. You just look at me & smile. But I promise it happened!
You've been carted to the pool many times already this summer & your usual response is a little bit of fussiness at first, then before you know it, you're happily splashing & squealing.
And you're still sleeping so well. 10-12 hours a night & 3-4 naps a day.
You rock star baby. We love you so much.

Lincoln at 9 months...

Baby Linc. I just can't believe it. You've officially been here as long as it took to grow you.
Time is just nuts.
At your 9 month check up you weighed in at 20 lbs (70th%).
And you stood tall at 30 in (above 98th%).
You're kind of a big deal.
You're wearing 6-12 month clothes, but pushing quickly into 12-18 months.
You're wearing size 4 diapers & are still rocking the bare feet.
This month you started dancing.
Like throwing hands in the air & shaking that booty kind of dancing.
And making your family laugh & smile & dance with you.
You're starting to work on your waving skills & your sister has you saying, "Heeyyyyy!"
I mean, you're just too much.
You crawl so fast. And when someone calls your name, you crawl happily to them. I love this stage.
Before long, you'll be running from us!
You're doing even better with your eating.
Trying lots of new things, but you get tired of them pretty quickly.
You have 4 teeth on top trying their best to push through. Bless your baby gums.
So, we're soaking up the last of your gummy grins before they get taken over by cute little baby teeth.
You still love bath time, but have officially moved to crawling all over that tub like a wet little maniac.
You still laugh at the funniest things, like when we sing to you in really deep voices or when someone sneezes. It's so funny what you find funny.
We dedicated you at church a few Sundays ago.
The Lord gave Pastor Brad Psalm 84 for you.
It has become my prayer for you.
You are such a tremendous gift to our family Lincoln man.
I genuinely thank the Lord daily for your life & your love, I am your favorite after all.
You are one amazing guy & we're all better for knowing you!

"What joy for those whose strength comes from the Lord… For the Lord is our sun & shield. He gives us grace & glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right. O Lord of Heaven's Armies, what joy for those who trust in You."
Psalm 84:5a, 11-12

Father's Day 2015

This post has been a long time coming!
We celebrated this guy as a dad over a month ago, but he deserves more than just a day anyway.

The kids get more & more excited & into celebrating all these big traditional days every year.
And Father's Day was no exception.

They picked out gifts.
Wrapped them with just a little help from mom.
Signed the card with pride.

And couldn't wait to make their dad feel awesome on his special day.
Which I was all in favor of.

But as I snapped these photos, through the lens of my camera I saw the true picture of what this day represents.

These guys love their dad with their whole hearts.
And that's directly because of his heart for them.

He's their safe place.
They know that no matter what, he's there for them.
And he loves them in such a fun, exciting, complete way.
Not completely perfect, but completely thoughtful & intentional.

And that overjoys my heart.
Because with this gift, they will eventually understand the Lord's overwhelming love for them.
And that's gonna take them places in life.

And I'm just grateful to be along for the ride.
Love these guys with my whole self.

"Thomas is my friend."

Truett has loved "choo-choos" for as long as I can remember.
Especially Thomas.
He loves to sing, "Thomas is my friend." (it should be Thomas & his friends)
I love him.

We found a set of several Thomas trains/boat/bus/tractor he didn't have & gave them to him for his birthday.

Every day for several days after, he lined them all up & marched around, wearing a happy little grin on his face.

It's one of my favorite things to do, to win at gift giving.

*side note- he also loves yogurt & wiping his face on his sleeve. Mmm.
That's real special.

Just counting, to make sure no one rolled away during his happy dance.

 "Thooooo-mas is my fw-iend!"

Then he piles them up & carries them around in a bucket, or a dump truck, or a bag.
And yells at you if you move said bucket/dump truck/bag from the exact spot he put it in.
You know, like when mom wants to clean up & it's sitting in the middle of the kitchen floor.
Being 3 is rough if people don't follow your rules for life…or choo-choos.

Lincoln Life {6 months}

No, you are not confused.
This little cutie is actually 7 months old.
Actually pushing 8.
But, we'll just pretend tonight that he's 6 months again...

At 6 months, Mr. Lincoln, you are just the cutest thing ever.
You are growing like a weed.
Weighing in at 18 lbs 15 oz (75th%).
And already 29 in long (above 98th%-lol!).
I feel like I'm carrying around a 1 year old, but looking into the face of a little bitty baby.
Cuz you are little. But you're not.

Your cute little bum wears a size 3 diaper.
And you're wearing 6-9 & 6-12 month clothes.
Your feet are long.
And your head is perfectly fuzzy.
We rub it everyday.

At the ripe old age of 6 1/2 months, you started crawling.
Our earliest crawler.
Before you could even sit well.
Then, just a couple of days later, you were sitting great, crawling all over the living room & even into the kitchen & delighting your sister & brothers.
They think you & your antics are awesome.

At 6 months, I became your favorite.
You are so friendly still, but if I'm anywhere near, you pretty much fuss until you're in my arms.
Which is totally fine by me, but not so much with your daddy, Mimi or Grammy.
That's ok. One day, they'll all be cooler than me.
This is my time, baby.

And that means I get lots & lots of sweet snuggles.
And the best smiles.
And giggles.
Although, dad can crack you up pretty good too.

You still have just 2 teeth.
They surprised me coming so early, but looks like those 2 bottom teeth were the only ones in a hurry.
You're still exclusively nursing.
Because I'm a lazy great mom.

You still laugh at the silliest things…which are in plenty at our house.
You love any toys that are not yours.
You're not putting things in your mouth yet, much to my relief.
I panic every now & then when I look around our house that is littered with all the smallest things ever & lecture your siblings about how they are all choking hazards.
They only sort of listen. Rude. And dangerous.
We'll work on that.
And the biggest thing at 6 months?
You're sleeping through the night.
Remember how I'm a great mom? Yeah.
You were sleeping next to my bed still at the beginning of this month & were waking up every hour-two hours.
Every night.
Plus you have 3 siblings. Who variously wake up for things.
I was worn out.
I decided to give it a try & put you in your crib one night (actually, your dad made me- for the record) & you only woke up once.
The next night, not at all.
I felt like a new woman & apologized to you for torturing you in the bassinet for far too long. Ha!
Apparently, you needed some space.
Message received & we are both sleeping beautifully now.
You rock star baby, you.
Linco, you're awesome.
7 month recap coming soon.

Truett is 3!

Truett also had a birthday in May.
May 4, 2012 is his day.
And we celebrated on that day at home with just us.
That weekend he had a family & one friend party.
Hey, when you're 3, it's really all just about cake anyway.
That he was determined would be a "Thomas cake."
I do cupcakes. With white frosting. Have you noticed that?
A dear friend heard my worries over this sweet child's request & blessed us greatly with the sweet cake you'll see below.
It was such a special birthday. 3 year old's get so genuinely excited, it is a pure joy to celebrate them…
Truett's birthday in photos:

And Captain America made an appearance just in time to blow out the candles.
Then just like that, my baby was 3.
Can you tell we have a Thomas the Train enthusiast in the fam?
More to come on that crazy kid soon...
